Faith in the Living God List
Price: $17.00 This volume invites the reader to join in an intellectual and personal adventure
in a search for religious truth and “the living God.” Polkinghorne
and Welker take a fresh look at Christianity’s central theological questions.
Each author presents one aspect of a mutual encounter, followed with the other
author’s reply. They probe key issues such as belief in God, Christian
faith and hope, life in the Spirit, and the tenability of faith in light of
current science and culture. Given the different backgrounds of each author,
you notice
the contrasts and similarities within each topic discussed. Throughout the
volume both authors are very respectful of Scripture, recognizing that it
always requires
interpretation. They wish to place themselves in a consonant relationship
with the tradition of the church, while recognizing that each generation has
to
make that tradition its own. For both authors, the question of truth is vital
in theology.
They conclude in agreement of how truth-seeking communities may further their
search for understanding if pursued in the widest possible setting available
to them. Book
